I upgraded to a paid account today and now I have the look of the journal that really makes me happy. Of course, I still need to start writing in it. I'm getting used to the idea

Oh yes, CC is my absolute favorite. I go back and read it periodically like I do with all my favorite books. I've even printed it out and pushed it onto friends who don't read online.
I also read a few of his shorter fics in other fandoms and really enjoyed them too. I love Lord Peter Wimsey stories and I thought he really captured House's voice as well. Do have any interest in any of those?
I've read his House stories and enjoyed them immensely, but I haven't taken a look at his Lord Peter Wimsey stories. I'm such a Dorothy Sayers fangirl that I'm hesitant to read them - she's just one of those authors that I find so perfect I don't really know that I want to read fanfic based on her.
I know what you mean...her work is what really got me noticing the writing itself. Her word choice for particular characters as well as just the beauty of the language she writes is unparalleled. I go through periods of reading her books over and over again. I'm so glad to find a kindred spirit fan of Sayers.
Halloo! Yay, you started your journal, that's great!
So, wait, you're telling me that there's someone out there who writes not only R/T, but Lord Peter and House as well? Where do I find this paragon among writers? I need to get me hence as soon as possible!
I'm reading Busman's Honeymoon right now - lord, I love this book. It's like one big literary quotation box of chocolates. Yummy.
He's sam_storyteller. You will love his stories. I adore Dorothy Sayers but the short piece I read of this writer's sounded remarkably like her voice. I've been enjoying the fact that there are other Wimsey-ites out there! Busman's Honeymoon is my absolute favorite and I love reading Gaudy Night leading straight into BH. You're right about the quotation box of chocolates. Sometimes I have to stop and just marvel at a sentence or phrase. Not to mention her handling of these very complex characters.
Oh, Sam's writing is great!! I just read some and I'm hooked already - thank you soooo much for that reference.
I agree with the direct lead-in from Gaudy to BH, it's wonderful not to have a gap in time there - and the intro to BH is so well done, telling the story through all the letters and his mother's diary. The first time I read that they spent half the night "kissing madly in a punt" I felt as if someone had knocked the breath out of me...
Have you read Thrones, Dominions? I have a very love/hate relationship with that book and I've only ever discussed it with two other Sayers fans - no one can decide if the effort was worth it or not.
The other line from Gaudy Night that took my breath away is when Peter says"Domina" at the very end. (I hope that's right...I don't have the book in front of me.) I'll have to find it and share some of my other favorites. There is a short story that I just love that has some amazing writing
