Why I Love Books...

If I had to trace things back, I guess I owe a love of reading to my mother and, especially, my big sister. Oh, sure...my Dad read some Fantastic Four comics to me when I visited on weekends (he did a good Thing voice, but his Sue Richards was lacking), but my earliest memories of books were my mother reading Carl Sandburg's Rootabaga Stories to ( Read more... )

Interesting -- your sister's name was Laurie. That is my name.

Of course you already know I love books too. Am still impatiently waiting for my copy of the Deathly Hallows to arrive in the mail.

I've known lots of Lauras and Loris, but my sister--like you--was Laurie.

I think you'll dig Deathly Hallows. Like all the books, it's just a lot of fun!

I guess the emotion you evoked with this post would have to be called malaise. I can't think of a better description. Regret? no. It's a specific kind of sadness. Bittersweet may be a little more accurate.

Anyway, I'm going to start reading #6 again soon so I can then read 7 with a better readiness.
