[you wake up in a completely sterile white room, lying on a hospital bed. You are hooked up to an IV, and a soft humming beep pulses in the air]

[you feel very alone]

[I'm at a loss of words on how to describe this, and I'm fluent in a few languages even.]

I will be blunt. You have misinformed the individuals in this experiment, taken control and their choices from them, and manipulated their emotions. In addition through the previous misinformation you have directly increased the pain the subjects of the experiments would feel, as with proper warning they could at least try to develop a way to cope.

I am not a scientist, or a sociologist, however the proceedings have no doubt violated many ethics board rulings. How do you plan to compensate for the outright violation of our human rights?

Unfortunately for us all, the ethics board doesn't really reach here. I'm going to assume you don't want any coffee right now?

You still haven't answered my question, and no, but tea would be appreciated.

We never took control or choices away from you, precisely. Your will has always been your own during the situations we put you in. You are correct that we have violated many ethics board rulings. As for compensation for your pain -- how about having given you the potential to feel greater connection than most humans are capable of? That should balance out the potential for pain. Beyond that, I highly doubt you wish to appear in any sort of court and have your own situation examined too closely, Zhores Barsoukova. How do you like your tea?

It's acceptable, thank you.

Save for who we would react to and thus form a bond with, you did leave us some choices, yes. I'll admit that. The "reward" you've indicated is something that few people would go for willingly, the bond is simply too strong for many people to function normally after it's severed. I appreciate my partner for his merits and would have gladly continued to speak with him outside of this game. However I would never willingly go along with the idea of something that can only lead to this result.

As for the matter of my legal standing, you'd first have to find a way to keep me out of camp. Beside that, I've been prepared for that outcome for awhile.

But the choice of having it or not having it is an important one.

So I suppose the ultimate result is, "You're right, but you can't stop me, and even if you could, your own crimes would come to light." Yes?
