Are relapses normal with CFS? I've been feeling worse the past couple of months, and been having more days where I can do very little. It's been worrying me because I'm hoping to go back to college in September *touches wood* and if I'm going backwards and it ends up that I can't go ... well, I have a lot of hopes pinned on doing it, which possibly ( Read more... )

To be honest I have absolutely no idea why I was the one expected to give up my seat. Probably the whole 'respect your elders' thing. Because of course that comes before 'respect the disabled'.

I'm sorry about everything that you had to go through - I can relate, I've always been a horribly shy person anyways and I think I worry too much about what total strangers think of me. It's really nice to have this support system here, I tell you.

And don't worry about the typos, my typin always goes to pot when I'm feeling bad, and I'm normally really nitpicky about it =)

I'm not sure about relapses, but I know my symptoms very a great deal from month to month, and from week to week, and from day to day. Some days I feel better than others, but I know I have to try not to overdo things or inevitably I'll have a serious 'relapse'.

I wish I could offer you some advice re: the coping with rude/unsympathetic people thing. My partner once suggested I get business cards with a synopsis of CFS on them, and a couple of links for further reading, and hand them out to people who are stupid/ignorant. The idea gave me a well needed chuckle at the time, but the more I think about it, the better I think the idea is.

I have a car(live in America) and often have difficulty finding a handicapped parking spot. Sometimes I must drive around and have had to come home a few times for lack of a spot (if I'm by myself.) Usually I'm with my husband and he will drop me off and then go park and come back and pick me up ( ... )

Uh-huh, both here. Big hugs.
Ignorant people... God. Everybody just sees a blithe young thing, unless I'm using my stick - in which case I'm a young disabled thing who keeps bashing into people and having her stick fall down - when they may deign to be vaguely helpful.
