I'm sorry about everything that you had to go through - I can relate, I've always been a horribly shy person anyways and I think I worry too much about what total strangers think of me. It's really nice to have this support system here, I tell you.
And don't worry about the typos, my typin always goes to pot when I'm feeling bad, and I'm normally really nitpicky about it =)

I'm not sure about relapses, but I know my symptoms very a great deal from month to month, and from week to week, and from day to day. Some days I feel better than others, but I know I have to try not to overdo things or inevitably I'll have a serious 'relapse'.
I wish I could offer you some advice re: the coping with rude/unsympathetic people thing. My partner once suggested I get business cards with a synopsis of CFS on them, and a couple of links for further reading, and hand them out to people who are stupid/ignorant. The idea gave me a well needed chuckle at the time, but the more I think about it, the better I think the idea is.

Ignorant people... God. Everybody just sees a blithe young thing, unless I'm using my stick - in which case I'm a young disabled thing who keeps bashing into people and having her stick fall down - when they may deign to be vaguely helpful.
