Oh, I absolutely love this line:
"They, ah - they do this for a bit," he said, not looking at Potter.

"Gngh?" Potter said faintly.

It's the Gngh? that wins it for me.

This is a splendid follow-up to The If Sieve - I enjoyed it very much. I liked the way you gave them a real imperative to keep going; to need to watch each memory as it unfolded. That was rather cleverly done. The final scenes, with the revelations and lovely kisses, comes as a reward for both the characters and the reader. Nice. :)

I wasn't looking very closely, but I did find one typo. Well, it's a missing word here:

"This is third year," he said, feeling Draco's eyes on him. He looked fascinated. "In the tunnel to the Shrieking Shack - this is what we were trying to get into when you rescued us from the willow that time."

Draco looked back at Snape's glassy eyes, his hair falling into his eyes as the loose dirt of the ceiling dislodged it. "You Stupefied Snape in third year? How are you still alive?"And in that first paragraph, your ( ... )

Thanks for the typos! Have fixed. (I removed an 'apparently' because modifiers are eating my fic, and didn't notice it meant a POV switch ...)

Am secretly (or not very secretly) so thrilled when not-really-slashers on my friends list read my slash. You rock.

Oh, you've made me so happy! I think I'm going to have to write 500 words about how much I love you!

I absolutely loved this--I loved the idea of the mirror maze, loved the memories, loved their reactions to the memories, and the kiss! I am filled with warm fuzziness. :) This is going to be my top choice for comfort reading on my next difficult day, I'm quite sure.

Also--you're so right that Voldemort wouldn't want to share his memories like that! It's hard to think of a better place to hide something from him. If Voldemort did manage to go through with it, I wouldn't bet on the person who accompanied him surviving the experience long after.

Yay! So happy you liked it.

If Voldemort did manage to go through with it, I wouldn't bet on the person who accompanied him surviving the experience long after.

Yeah. I was kind of banking on him not being able to bear them seeing it at all - especially the orphanage memories - even if he meant to kill them afterwards.

The DH revelation that he trusted the Lestranges with the cup kind of upsets the idea that he'd never send somebody else through the maze for the locket - but I'm ignoring DH canon, so hey :-)

I didn't just like it--I loved it! I've already gone back and reread it once today. :)

You know, Voldemort attempting to go through the mirror maze would be an interesting fic in and of itself, especially if he didn't know exactly what he was getting into at first.

It would be an interesting fic. And if seeing the Dursleys made Draco murderous, I'd love to imagine what the orphanage memories would make Bellatrix want to do ...

There would be less sap and kissing, though, so not as much fun to write :p

Thank you! Am delighted you liked it. Especially that you thought the final bit of dialogue worked - trying to get that right kind of killed.
