I love it! I love the characterization, because you know the characters well enough to have them act plausibly outside of canon. Very well done! :)

Thank you! This fic was the first time I'd tried for real characterisation, so I'm glad you liked it.

Thank you! I think character plays a lot more into the events of our lives than the random factor does, certainly. I'm very glad you liked this.

Wow - I just love the concept of this fic - it's so plausible and I am dying to know what happens next. I can just see Draco thinking and feeling this about Harry - and it seems no matter where he turns, fate keeps coming back to bite him on the ass.

You have such an effortless, flowing style which makes it so easy to read and I'd just adore to be able to emulate. :)

Dialogue is fresh and easy and just beautifully placed.

This was great fun! I loved the inventive IF machine and thought the idea of Draco being obsessed with the chance of friendship with Harry, perfectly true for fanon Malfoy. I thought this was a very clever way of making AUs from basic canon and turning it into something I wish, very much, had actually been part of the books.

Thanks for sharing this story, I came here the the Painless archive.

dear cest what, you are absolutely amazing... I read the if sieve way back when, when I still didn't have an lj account and was blown away... and now I find myself inexplicably drawn back to this story and this beautiful world you've created... I love how you make it nearly impossible for them to ever be friends... everything's practically hanging on a string... and how you keep draco's competitive spoiled character an integral part of him... just so well done...

anyway, what I meant to say is thank you so much for sharing this brilliant story!

oh, btw, I've been looking for good harry-in-slytherin stories (near impossible with the high standard you've set XD) and was wondering if you wrote more of the stuff or if you could point me in the right direction... thank you so much!

Thank you so much! What a lovely comment. I'm still pretty fond of this story, I have to admit :-)

I haven't come across a lot of great Slytherin!Harry fic, tbh. mahliem's A Slytherin in Gryffindor Clothing is pretty funny if you haven't read it? Although it was her first fic, so not as good as her later things. Lightning on the Wave's Sacrifices Arc is RIDICULOUSLY epic and kind of trashy-melodramatic-awesome; by the end it's not much like fanfiction, just a sprawling original universe with some recognisable names. Addictive and very inventive but a bit sloppily written Those two are the only memorable examples I've read, though, I think :(

I haven't written any Slytherin!Harry outside of this 'verse - although my only other long H/D fic is Gryffindor!Draco, fwiw. On the harry/draco tag if you're curious.

ooh, thank you for the lovely suggestions :D it's sad to think i've read plausible hufflepuff draco before gryffindor draco... must go and make up for it! *hurries off to read more*
