"Intriguing, isn't it?" Victor asked, standing just beside the girl now although he was only partially watching her admire the piece while also browsing through the rest of the items for his own particular needs.

He had recognized her quickly as one of his son's Slytherin friends, although he also knew that her family wasn't nearly as allied to his own as would have been preferable.

She jumped slightly at the voice and her hand snapped away from the piece. Turning away from, she looked up to the older man and was surprised to see Mr. Nott standing before her.

"Oh, um, well, yes," she stammered, slightly unnerved. "It's rather beautiful," she added, looking back to see the intricate carvings.

Relaxing his features so as not to seem imposing, Victor reached past her to carefully collect the item from the shelf.

"Not many things in here can be called beautiful," he remarked, and then gave a small smirk as he looked it over. "This one also happens to be rather powerful," he added, turning his gaze back to her to judge her reaction.
