*Squee!* I want to know all about him too! He is trying to tell me, but he has to get the words out. He has given more already- not yet ready to post, but soon!

I love the implications of Dig as well!

He's a Cobb... A Jayne Cobb offspring no less; yes, he is a survivor. Even when it is all too much, they do manage to hold. I love that about them.

I like the contrast of big man and little man too! It felt right that Jayne would call a fighter little man. He is not one to baby talk a kid, so yeah.

*Happy you liked it!*

The first one you can really feel him digging. It's all there the franticness and the pain and the determination.

I like the contrast of the second with Jayne's almsot gentle voice and the boy's resignation.

In the third, I think Zoe is right - his survival is a miracle. And I like River's last words - they say a lot!

..the franticness and the pain and the determination...

It was a section that I really wanted to work and convey those very emotions. I am glad it worked! *Phew*

On some levels when Jayne is trying to be soothing it really is cause for more anxiety, especially if you don't know him. And a child being resigned ties me up more than fear or pain. The element of almost giving up creeps in in resignation.

Zoe and River are the wise women I think on Serenity. Zoe has a old soul, and River has a soul that encompasses so much more than herself.

*Thank you!

Oh, I want to pet the little guy.

I love the use of the digging symbolism, both digging to get away and digging to find, and then the dialogue in the second one, oh, I love that one so much, it fits so well. Just - “Come out little hiding person… we ain’t gonna hurt ya…” is so bringing up thoughts of Jayne and his line in the BDM before getting peached, hehehehe.... I suppose there's a dirty meaning there, but I'm too tired to think of it now...

*poke*

So... next part? Will we get anything else with the little guy?

Yeah, Dig became a very cool word to work with depite initial hesitation. But when the story pitched itself to me it was just obvious how much I wanted to try and do with it. I am glad some of it worked...

Jayne has a few very simple elements to him, his attempts at talking people down from fear is one of them- sadly he kind of sucks at it. Truth be told he is not a man who would talk someone off a ledge and back into the building. He would tell them to jump and get over with it, or to come on back in and stop being such a panty waist about it. Wasting his time and gorramnit, that is not going to endear him to anyone.

Will we get anything else with the little guy?

So far I have five pages, most of them with the poor little fella and Mal!!! Interesting to say the least... I would tell you more, actually kinda curious on your thoughts... but this whole corresponding by email...wel.... >;00 (I can be such a royal PinTA about some things can't I >;0) )

I just giggled so hard I almost broke a rib.

Ow.

I now have this image of a crowd under a balcony and they're all yelling for the person to climb back in and, no, don't jump! Along comes Jayne and his cunning hat, looks up, sees the person, and decides to fix the problem - "Just jump already, put yourself out of our misery!" Cue River smacking him upside the head and Mal making his 'I'm surrounded by idiots' face.

I blame the Muse you for my overactive imagination.

no no, he would look up and say "Jump or get yer ruttin' pi gyu back inside. Either way I'm goin' fer a drink. Makes no matter to me how I get the money. I'll pull it outta yer pocket if yer dead, and ya owe it ta me fer bein' a pain in my ass if ya come down on yer own...dumbass..." as he shakes his head >;0)
