Your kind words mean a lot, means the 'verse is not bereft of interest just yet >:0)

"I chose to let the bear lead me to safety when the sky was burned and the road unseen" --really great imagery.
The thought of Jayne with some psychic abilities makes my brain all wibbledy.

Thank you- I love how River sees things, feels Jayne as other and not just as he appears to the others. Her ability to influence the others with her perceptions is always a challenge though. *Glad you liked it!*
Jayne is more just incredibly perceptive of space and body language- a hunter, a killer living by his ability to see what is right in front of them all... some would call that psychic (Have you ever heard of horse whisperers? I imagine it is somewhat like that- I say that as someone who has had people call me that when I think I just pay attention better...)
And I am still savoring River Gorge! Fantastic fic there!

Sorry, ahem.
I love how this helped to cement what we already knew, kind of took the unseen and made it physical and I love that it took so long for our Browncoat to get it. It helped to anchor everything else, and, for me, made the previous use of imagery and ethereal awareness all the more real. And then the nod of Mal's hands on Inara's shoulder, anchoring in a deeper way? Uh, I squeed so loud, you have no idea - to this day, the greatest shipper moment of intimacy, for me, remains Mal's touch at the end of the pilot. It was such an intimate touch, such a depth beneath it and there was more in the way their eyes met than in most sex scenes these days on cable television.
Guh.
And then the River and Jayne?
Gah, lady, you kill me.
A man-shaped bear rumbled under her hands, blood feeling like liquid fire pulsed at his throat where she nosed closer to smell the smoke, gun oil and man.Something that writers can do better than any show is such a use of description, ( ... )

Seriously, Thank you! I TOTALLY agree about the Mal/Inara moment in the pilot- my throat sticks everytime, seeing his expression, the pause, the glance from her...GUH! Only barely approached again in OiS... His touching her, comforting her, grounding himself as well, was very much clear to me. It had to be there.
I don't want to kill you! Then who would leave these wonderful comments that makes me want to find more of the story????
Senses are so rich in possibilities and trying to find those layers, feel the levels they allow you to go to; yeah, a personal quest for those moments where you just say "Yes."
Ya think I may find River and Jayne's relationship to be one of those incredibly mysterious and compelling love stories? You would be right.
