I love the chapel scene so hard, almost entirely for that last couplet.
Hamlet is not my favorite part of "Hamlet", except for the gorgeous words he gets to say, and this bit (Mousetrap prep through Polonius stabbing) is the low point. If the dude would stop being such a dick to everybody, even the ones he's totally justified about, I would have so much more sympathy.

It would be nice, yes. However, I suspect that Hamlet's innate dickishness is somehow inextricably intertwined with the plot of the whole stupid play and if he were other than he is, he would be...someone else entirely.
Oh, it's totally necessary for the character, and the play, but...dude you are such an asshole knock if off! I mean, over the course of the play my sympathies move from (pretty much in order):
1. Horatio 2. Fortinbras 3. Ophelia 4. Laertes/Fortinbras 5. Horatio 6. Laertes 7. Hamlet finally starting at "Not a whit, we defy augury: there's special providence in the fall of a sparrow." Which is when he stops jerking bystanders around, and begins to reconcile himself.
AND THAT'S WHY THIS PLAY SUCKS AND EVERYONE AGREES WITH ME.
(your Canadian television is going out today! \o/ figuring out international postage is hard.)
That is also the line where Hamlet wins my sympathy back. :-) I suspect it was done that way on purpose: "I am totally about to kill Hamlet off in a scene or two here," says Shakespeare. "I'd better let people know that he possesses a redeeming feature or two."
AND THAT'S WHY THIS PLAY SUCKS AND EVERYONE AGREES WITH ME.
I don't think the play sucks at all! Hamlet sucks, but really, almost the only character who doesn't suck at all is Horatio. And maybe the gravedigger. I mean, I can see why not liking the main character at all would hamper your enjoyment of the play, but i think that it is possible to write brilliantly about stupid people.

It's so unfair! You're in trouble again, just because you called your uncle - or rather, your new stepfather, Claudius - a usurping git. It's true, though. Your real dad was SO much better than that guy. Too bad he was found mysteriously dead in the orchard a couple of weeks back. Anyway, your mother (who was, incidentally, looking quite something today in a sparse leather number, er...) sent you to your room, and here you are.
Bedroom
You are in your luxurious palatial boudoir, all of ten feet square. There is a four-poster bed, and not much else. A portrait hangs on the wall.
An exit leads north.
dammit. this one looks more awesome than the one i made. ;_______;
