Season 3 Premiere & Season 2 DVD Release Dates + Holiday Gift Exchange Wrap-Up

For those who haven't seen the news already, Showtime has FINALLY announced some key dates we've long awaited:

1) Season 3 will premiere on Sunday, April 14 at 10 pm EST (We will have a live discussion post for it here as usual)

2) The Season 2 DVD will be released on March 26!

Man, it's about damn time we got these dates! I'm still annoyed about the DVD release one--it's bad enough they missed Christmas (in terms of planning to ask for it as a gift) they will just barely miss my birthday too! *sigh* It also seems strange to release it so close to the premiere date, giving those who might want to catch up on s2 on DVD first less time to watch.

Also they sure seem to be pushing the premiere date later and later each year...:s

I was hoping for a March premiere. Ugh. April seems so far away.

Yeah, I mean it has always been in April (except for the s1 double premiere leak, lol), but I was hoping for earlier in April at least. :s

I find it really odd that Australia got the Borgias S2 DVD a long time before the US. O__O Maybe this is Canada taking its revenge on the USA, much like NZ took its revenge on Aus (Dec 26 for The Hobbit cinema release? that's just cruel...)

Anyway, hurrah for an official date. And I was wondering if we might have some kind of discussion of S1&2 in the run-up? I can never do live watches because of the time zone difference, so I would personally love something like a series of weekly or bi-weekly discussion posts.

Well Europe typically gets DVDs before the US does, from what I've seen, it's a thing, IDK why--something to do with licensing and marketing, probably. So I'm not surprised that this was the case, although I thought Canada and the US shared a region...:s In any case, it was really annoying when I kept googling the release date and only saw the Canadian one! >:(

As for rewatch discussion posts, maybe we could do something like that...we didn't get so much participation last year while rewatching s1, but maybe if we did posts with discussion qs instead...for season 3 we will have the live discussion posts for those who can join in as usual, but those are always open to commenting after the fact (during s1 I was in Europe and was never able to really participate live myself).

I got so frustrated waiting for the Season 2 DVD to even give a release date (USA) that I went to Amazon's Canada site and ordered it from there. I think generally Amazon does consider US & Canada Region 1, don't know what the deal was with The Borgias DVD.
