I have only wanted Regina to be happy the whole time I've been watching this show. In my head, she looked at Emma and said, "Are you fucking kidding me right now?"
Have you read Tortall And Other Lands? Is it a good representation of her worldbuilding? I was dissatisfied with Alanna but thought a book of short stories would be pretty good.
If you didn't like the Song of the Lioness Quartet I'm not sure that you'll really like what she does. I've read pieces of that short story collection, and all of it seemed like it was just more of Tammy's stuff.
I don't know what you didn't like about Alanna's series, but you might try her other Tortall stuff: the Immortals Quartet, the Protector of the Small Quartet and the Trickster duology. I love everything Tammy writes (except the later Circle of Magic stuff, because it was just less interesting to me when the four mages weren't together) so I don't know that I'm a good barometer for this sort of thing.
XD I won't go into detail about what I disliked, but I do know reading about the lands would be more bearable from points of view other than Alanna's. Thanks for the suggestions!
Ooh, I should reread Circle of Magic. It's been so long.
