There were several instances of the patient expressing how unhappy he was that he was stuck in this body, and how if he was just getting sicker he'd rather make the wait shorter, not prolong it by getting treatment, etc. So I was definitely left with the impression that he gave the pills to the dog.
That combined with the other patient who stuck his knife in the electrical socket, and House trying it out too, plus the title, really made me think that the episode was more about death, and maybe the benefits some patients see to death.
Are we to understand that the patient intentionally did not take the pills?
I was halfway expecting a reveal that one of the men deliberately pushed the pills on the floor or something, in order to prevent the women from winning the competition.
