Pairing: Erik/Charles
Rating: PG-13, possibly R for images of war.
Word Count: 3,000
Warnings: Images of war, captivity, torture, underage soldiers.
Notes: An AU, where Charles fought for the British and Erik fought for the Germans. I've played a little fast and loose with ages and with Charles' background, so, fair warning. Unbeta'd, so all ( Read more... )

Awwww this is simultaneously tragic and adorable and it's such a strange combination but you rocked it. This line: The moment that Charles realizes he is a god. sends shivers down my spine. Great job!

I do imagine that it would be a hell of a thing, sending someone that young with those kinds of powers into a war zone. Enough to prompt a realization that, in canon, Charles doesn't quite seem to have had.

Thank you!

This was lovely, every part of it! I only wish there was even more. :) I would love to more of what Charles did for the British war effort, and scenes of how he and Erik together were powerful enough to to end the war.

Wonderful AU!

You know, I think there will be more. Not of this part of the fic, but of later -- I have a whole lot I want to say about them *really* growing up and the political climate just after World War II, but it didn't quite seem to fit into this story.

So, yes. Most likely, sequel.

Thank you!

I may have just made a squeaking noise of joy when I read this. :D

LMAO. Yes. I may or may not also have started coming up with AUs of this AU in which things go differently.

My brain, I cannot shut it off.

this was brilliant. for a moment among all those war scenes, i actually (no, i seriously) saw Erik and Charles sitting side by side pressed close with cute newsboy caps on both of their precious little heads and sleeping leaning perfectly into each other like puzzle pieces. it made me coo X__x

i dont know if this is what you intended to do, but the ending game me and idea that Charles would actually follow and indulge Erik in his mission to kill Shaw and when he gets the idea of utopia, Charles will do his utmost to make it happen. after all, according to part 3 Erik fought the war for Charles.

This was exactly my experience writing it. All this war, pain, death, destruction, torture, angst... OH GOD THEY ARE SO CUTE.

Yep, that's pretty much what I was going for. I was sort of planning for Charles to stay with England, but that didn't happen, in the end, and I'm pretty satisfied with the way it went.
