This was chilling and really powerful. I really liked your take on what could happen and how in spite of everything, they always loved each other.

That's the sort of story that really appeals to me -- tragic connections, across battle lines. I'm glad you liked!

Holy---that is just an amazing take on their story. That business about leaving a vacuum and the other filling it...just like the movie, it makes you stop and think, consider both sides and the balance at play there.

This is really outstanding. Instant favorite.

Thank you! I do like trying to write reversals like this, and I wasn't entirely sure I got the idea across, but that was exactly what I was going for. So yay. I'm glad you liked!

I knew, this time, it would be a tragedy (given your warnings) - but still I had to read. You are a wonderful writer.

ug, this kinda broke my heart. Thank you. (No sarcasm intended. I like things that break my heart. :3)

LOVED this:
Charles has white; Erik black. This is simply how it goes.

Charles wins, but not without paying a high price. This is simply how it goes.

and this:

(Charles always wears metal, these days. Likewise, Erik never closes off his mind. Not entirely. These unspoken marks of trust bind them tighter than the sex ever will.)

Oh, the bit about the chess was my favorite. I was thinking about the scenes in the later X-Men, with Stewart and McKellen, and how the chess games tended to go between them.

I'm glad you liked!
