He intends to show Jefferson a kindness and consideration, without the disrespect of surrender or the falsehood of pretending to be less of a man than he is, and, above all, an equal match in intellect.

Oh! This whole thing! The formal language and the equally formal *thoughts*, somehow all the more intimate and real because of it. This was so unexpectedly brilliant and *wonderful*.

Thank you! I really felt that the more formal language did something interesting to my writing style, as I was writing the piece. I'm glad it came out all right!

I can't say enough about this fic. It's brilliant, and amazing.

The language is absolutely perfect for the setting and your description of the power exchange is completely spot on.

Oh, this is really, really good! I haven't seen this miniseries yet (which, considering my colonial history fan of a roommate, surprises me greatly), but it seemed like such an unusual story idea that I had to read. And it was wonderful. So much great language, and hotness with this amazing tenderness. And then this:

Mr. Hamilton, you have taken me unawares, and stolen into my heart. I pray you continue the same delicacy you used to maneuver yourself there.

*dies* Just lovely!

Thank you! I think I may be most proud of that letter at the end. I got to use phrases like "stolen into my heart" without being cliched! ♥

I'm glad you liked!
