My trees got chopped today. I didn't even notice it when I got home. The tops of the maple was lopped off and the silver leave maple that was coming out the side of the norway maple was cut out. We used to have silver maples all over the place when I was growing up in Indiana. I've always thought they were attractive trees, and when I was a kid I couldn't understand why the grown-ups hated them so much.

I actually dont have anything against the silver leaf maples, we have a number of them in the cemetery, although I have been led to believe they die and need to be cut down to safeguard powerlines. Not sure I believe that story. Anyway, I had to make a choice in this case to take out the tree that was out of place. All the trees that grew in that spot are wild anyway, and years ago I took out another offshoot that was just not right. The Norway has taken the lead, and it may go eventually depending on what it does to my septic tank. Norway maples are considered invasive trees around here, but if it were not for them, I don't know how many trees we'd even have. I'll take most any tree I can get.
And the silver leave always tell you when a storm is coming. They flip over in the wind and look 'silvery'. lol
