Bulking up

I began the project of replacing my cellar bulkhead today. I bought the wood I knew I would need (with Ryther's help) and began disassembling the doorway. My father and I built the one that I'm taking off when we first moved in, in '94, so this one has lasted pretty well. Have you thought of getting those plastic-form bulkheads from Lowes ? They work well enough.

I know they make bulkheads, but I thought "that will never fit on my house". So I didn't bother looking at them. Just with an old house, nothing fits right. I've already cut most of the wood now, so for this round I'll be doing the wood. But maybe next time, in another 15 or so years, I'll be 55, and not so inclined to play carpenter on the back bulkhead. Then I'll get something more permanent. Maybe.
