Lester was staring out the window of his classroom, wondering where the birds were going and if they were flying away from the school because the numbers on the board were scaring them. He wasn't really afraid of the numbers himself, but they didn't make any sense to him. So maybe he could make more sense of why the birds were flying where they were. Why were they coming back he thought they didn't like the numbers. Maybe they changed their minds and like numbers. Or maybe they just came back because they forgot to tell someone they were leaving...

And then something went off in his pocket. As far as he knew his piPod did not vibrate. This must mean one of two things. Either there was a vibrating demon in his pocket, or his phone was going off.

Since Djinn wasn't going crazy in his head, he figured it must be his phone. So he pulled it out of his pocket and opened it under his desk right when his teacher turned his back. And he was right! He was about to shove it back in his pocket until he saw who the sender of the message was.

I ( ... )

A reply! Ezra fought to keep the smile off of his face as he answered Lester's question. Lester sounded different through text.

or just into town whatevr

am i gnna get you into troubl? sorry

He noticed his typos only after he hit send hastily, having felt the eyes of his teacher on his head as he scanned the classroom briefly before continuing with the lesson.

And there was his phone again. This time, unless the vibrating demon was being sneaky, it was a text message. And unless he was getting spammed or if Emi was blowing his phone up, he was pretty sure that it was Ezra again. And he was right! He didn't even bother to look at the teacher as he started poking out a reply on his phone. And yet the teacher chose just that moment to start interrogating someone near the front of the room about why their homework looked identical to the person sitting next to them.

That sounds good. I would love to hang out. Is there somewhere you wanted to go? And I don't think I'll get in trouble. You don't need to be sorry.

After he hit send and put his phone back, the teacher started talking again. But he didn't know that.
