I am starting to forget how long I have been here...I think this is the third week, and by far the worst, but mainly for really stupid reasons. I have one more class tomorrow (Friday classes suck!), but other then that, I am free, its just me, the internet, and a few hours till Survivor: Vanuatu begins (forgive me my addiction, I blame my roommate ( Read more... )

Okays, I'm here to help! Racial identity: white female. Talk about how it impacts the way you're perceived. "White" is the dominant color (for racial purposes) and therefore, those who are white have less of the special "benefits" that other groups may claim for college admittance, tax purposes, etc. Of course, being a woman is a disadvantage, because you're "emotional" and "home/family oriented." So, you get ups for the color but slapped for the gender. Damn them all to Hell!

Anywoo, hope stuff gets better. I'm leaving later this morning (seeing as how it's 12:16am) to get back to UCSB. *hugs*

I totally agree. Remember: America is a mixing pot. We don't have to worry about the "purity" levels, because it's definitely more fun to be multi-ethnic!

I think the main thing with the racial identity paper is when we first became aware of race in society, but I have no idea. I know that people are all different colors, but I have no idea what I did to become aware of that. THe course is Chicano Latino studies, so most of the poeple in the class are hispanic, and usually those with a specific ethnic group to identify with are the ones who remember what made them aware of race. I have no clue, really. But that is actually the last homework of the weekend I plan to think about, so we shall see
