"bite me, gearhead" cvirtue April 23 2006, 18:34:10 UTC
I never really understood that phrase. It seems equivalent to "cause me intense pain!" Doesn't make sense.

I think you're right about the parental response, though.

I don't get that phrase either. If I want to insult someone, inviting him to do me physical harm seems incongruous.

The woman who was named Queen's Bard is Lady Cecelia from Heronter. She has opera training. Her first event was appropriately enough, "SCA: The Musical" Heronter ran a bardic competition with first prize being a gorgeous cloak with a heron playing a harp on the back. :D We drew the largest gathering of bardic fire-power I've ever seen at an event. We had former Kingdom bards, current and former Baronial bards, Troubadours, etc. Imagine our surprize when a newbie attending her first event grabbed top honors. I came in second.

Thanks for the background. Is anyone working with her?

Yes, they did. The accoustics even ended up being a little better than it looked like they would be.

They sang four songs, "April is in my Mistress' Face", "Tanzen Und Springen", "Belle Qui", and one more that I don't remember. (The three I remembered were all in the repertoire when I was still in the group, which is probably why I remembered them more easily.)
