The thing with the vowels - every kamatz is a kamatz katon . . . with an umlaut. So Aw becomes Oi. Happens with some Cholems too. Simchas Toyrah someach,
Oh thanks! I didn't realize they were treating kametz gadol and kamets katan as homophones. I did notice some cholams but didn't detect a pattern (why some but not others?).
I assume that their patach is different from kametz, then? (I learned patach and kametz gadol as homophones, but two different types of kametz. If they're making the kametzes the same, do they distinguish patach?)
