Last night, as has become traditional (three times makes a tradition, right?), I held a second-night Pesach seder that I bill as the "it takes as long as it takes; you had lunch, right?" seder. In other words, the goal is plenty of good discussion, tangents welcome, and we'll get to the meal when we get there and meanwhile I'll put out some snacks

For going back to the living room after, all we needed was the wine and glasses, so we could just pick them up and walk into the other room.
Being able to do the non-meal parts of the seder in the living room really helped us. When people are more comfortable they're better able to engage in what we're doing. The first "it's getting late" clue was when a timer turned off a light that was in view, not when somebody was getting tired of sitting on a dining-room chair.
