Yesterday was the music & dance event. I had lots of fun, and I think things went really well in general.

My class (actually a group-teach with lrstrobel and Alaric) was in the first time slot and only got one student, but we had a decent discussion. (The topic was organizing/leading music groups -- basically, how to go from "we'd kind of like to do this ( Read more... )

I don't know if the other tenors rely on being able to hear me (I'm in the front row during performances and they're not); there were glitches in places where I'm not used to there being glitches. Of the three of us who were at this performance, I'm probably the strongest on this repertoire currently. Brandon is a strong singer who's still learning the material (he's new to the choir), and Degan lacks both volume and confidence.

I can't speak for Degan, but I was used to keying off of you on "O Morte" (very much my weakest piece at the moment) with the basses and Degan as fallbacks and I couldn't hear any of you. By the time I managed to sight-read enough of the alto part to key off of Sara I had missed several entrances. :(

To add to it, I do have a bit of a confidence problem (no duh...) especially when I'm already floundering....

I suspected it was something like that, and "O Morte" is the piece I was referring to. It's a hard piece; it took the choir months to learn it initially, and we've had turnover since then. It is absolutely no reflection on you that you are having trouble with it after only a few weeks. I didn't realize the accoustics in the back row were as bad as they were (or maybe Degan was just being quiet -- I couldn't hear him at all on that piece).
