Skype is customer-hostile now?

I've run into this sort of issue in other systems too: you set up an account either with an e-mail address or a username, and then later they decide to requiring the other format without giving you the opportunity to log in with the original format to set one up. I've had the switch go in both directions. (I've been having my own Skype issues since setting up an account a month ago, but evidently they're part of a general "does not play well with Macs" thing.)

Feh. Skype used to play well on Macs, but I guess their priorities have changed since Microsoft bought them. :-(

I have unlimited (domestic) calling on my cell phone. I rarely make international calls, so I have an international calling card that I stick $10 on every now and then to cover the relatives in Canada. The only reasons to use Skype for me are (a) video call and (b) to avoid sharing my cell-phone number with people, but most of my work calls aren't video anyway and my immediate team-mates have my number anyway, so... maybe it's time to punt? Dunno.

I've been using Skype on a Mac for years to talk e-f2f with my daughter in Japan, and now with my son in Michigan. Knock on wood, it works for us.
