“It’s Johnny’s Birthday”

George knew that John was trying to tell him something but the message was unclear.

Generally, he hated birthday and anniversary commemorations, but he decided on John’s 59th  it was time to get in touch.   It could be done through meditation or hallucinogens.  He’d opted for mushrooms.

So well done, especially the recognition of the ways in which John tried to make contact. The last line gave me a shiver, honestly.

I really struggled with pov on this one and harihead gave me the clue that pointed me toward this ending. Thanks, HH.

And thanks for commenting, spoonfeeder. So glad you liked it.

You know, I like this drabble (even if you cheated and did, like, 74 of them at once).

Really, it's a great idea, very intriguing.

Who's this "Jay Clifford" character?

Jay Clifford, formerly lead singer of the group, "Jump Little Children." is my new musical obsession, thanks to a similarly obsessed friend who apparently wishes to be anonymous.

If you want to hear something gorgeous (and see a gorgeous Jay), follow this You Tube link: http://youtube.com/watch?v=T3i8R3JJVGk

I can't believe this guy is not famous. Writes incredible lyrics and lovely melodies.

I love the fact that you're willing to tell me when something isn't working and also that you're such a careful reader. Can't improve without a little constructive feedback and engagement.

In particular, I can't thank you enough for steering me towards a better approach to the ending, which was giving me fits.

And now, to use that famous slogan of reality TV shows everywhere, "It is what it is."

Ta.

"Because you’re too bloody sensitive". Ah, great line. George and I, possibly cut from the same cloth.:) I enjoyed this.

It's hard to have elephant hide all the time. I'm trying to grow some myself.

Glad you liked it.

Alas, George gets to be sexy because he's too sensitive, or at least he has enough redeeming qualities to balance it out,LOL...
