"Make the player suffer. The further into the game they are, the greater the suffering. We'll give them some easy enemies for the first fifth of the game, but the four-fifths after that should be filled with PAIN!"

The sad thing is that I wish I was just kidding. I was using a level 100 Squall on a level 81 manikin of ExDeath the other day. You'd think my being 19 levels above him would make a real difference in how easy the fight is, right? Not really! I restarted that fight about ten times, and still got out of there minus a couple thousand HP (and since healing is a slightly rare thing, with a possible maximum of about 10K, HP is precious in this game ( ... )

See, and one of the things that's always kind of annoyed me about the KH series is sort of the opposite. It's always annoyed me that some of the earlier levels can have boss fights that are extremely difficult, but Ansem/Xenmas is never very hard. For me, anyway.
(Of course, I'm on my expert mode replay of KH2, and I'm in the final area where if you die, you're screwed, and it isn't even Xenmas that's the problem, it's the STUPID DRAGON THING WITH THE LAZER-SHOOTING SNOWFLAKES WHAT THE HELL.)
