although I'm not familiar with paganism or any of the rituals or anything, so I have to ask -- what is the knife for? my brain was immediately like SACRIFICING BUNNIES, which I'm hoping is just media influence and not actually true, but now I'm curious haha

The knife is the athame, and the athame (traditionally black-handled) is used exclusively for energy work. Traditionally, it physically never cuts anything so much as a single hair.

A white-handled knife, a boline, is what's used to cut things like herbs and cord for ritual use. :)

Thanks for clearing that up! I'm fascinated by stuff like this, because my religion has like, no rituals at all. Or at least, none like this.
