Ah, but Rayseline loved him; or wanted to, at least, in the part of her that wasn't screwed up. His death is going to be one more thing in that dynamic that will be relevant later, I think.

I love these books to pieces. But yeah, I want Toby/Tybalt NOW!

There's a part of Rayseline that isn't screwed up?

Raysel is an interesting character, and one I can hate and feel sympathy for at the same time; it really isn't her fault the way she is... blood and upbringing will tell. Yeah, there is a part of her that isn't screwed up, or at least doesn't want to be screwed up. It's the part that really didn't want to kill the Selkie, and felt regret over Margie's death.

I can agree that Connor's death could be, as you put it, relevant in that dynamic later, giving his existence and his death one more level of meaning.

But it doesn't make his character more interesting. At least for me.

On the other hand, it could be that next to Tybalt, almost anyone would be less interesting. XD Oh Tybalt. I do so love the King of Cats.
