I've been so focused on Normal that I've been negligent in announcing a few recent publications.

A Twitter-sized story is featured today on Nanoism. This thing was hard to write, which makes it look even better "in print."

I also have a dark short-short in this month's issue of Apollo's Lyre. I am especially proud of this one ( Read more... )

Wow. Just read 'The Mother and the Moon' and I loved it and hated it in equal measures ... that is a good thing, by the way. The writing was evocative and the storyline familiar but with a great, new twist. This was more like the original fairy tales than the Walt Disney remakes ... which is why I hated it, too, you see.

I need to know, now, that the fairies came and saved that baby girl and she didn't lay there until she died because of a silly mother (I know, I know, that is part of the story) ... I have two young babies, you see, and you got me RIGHT in the heart!

Evil (talented) lady, you!!!

You reaction cracked me up. That's the sort of response I was hoping to get - for people to fervently hope that fairies are real and will take care of the child.

Personally, I'm hoping for the fairies. Otherwise, it all comes down to a terrible moral dilemma: is infanticide more merciful than the fate that awaited the girl in town? Fairies must be better than that. Right?
