There's something about apples and autumn. For me, it's a seasonal association as strong as pumpkin--maybe more so, because as I kid I didn't like the taste of pumpkin, but I've always loved apples

According to Google, molasses-apple butter is a real thing. Keep in mind, of course, that all brown sugar is is white sugar with molasses mixed in. Would you add it onto the recipe or replace something like honey? I think it'd work, in either case.
