On Friday I dove into the latest revisions on Normal. I did most of the minor fixes throughout the manuscripts--awkward or unclear sentences my agent pointed out--and added a new scene at about 1000 words. The big work ( Read more... )

Good luck with the MS. Sounds like your son is very interested in the process - perhaps give him another torture-free scene to run his eye over?

Alas, this time around the scenes I need to revise tend to be high drama. He doesn't seem as interested in my tame short stories; I think he favors the novel because of the high page numbers. He's math-crazy.

Mine are perpetually over my shoulder as well - it drives me to distraction!! Maybe you need to start writing him his own stories, full of math. ; )

I can't believe he only has one week left! My kids are in until the end of June. Good luck with everything - I know how difficult it can be having them unrelentingly home.

The school years here in Arizona are weird. The year begins the first week of August (one district in Phoenix begins in JULY!) and then ends before Memorial Day. We also have shorter days every Wednesday.

I wonder why? Initially I was thinking it was a weather thing, but if the kids go back in August (or JULY - UGH!!) that's the hottest part of the summer! In any case, good luck with the juggling act once they are all home. I'm practicing now, but am still only able to keep one ball in the air at a time. ; P
