If the kid has anything past the liability coverage he's fucked anyway because of his car. But also, the accident report and ticket are going to his insurance anyway so his rates are basically going to be shot regardless. If there hadn't been a trooper involved, you could probably save him with just asking for the estimate in cash, but really, not much you can do for his rates.

I have no idea what to do about the car. You definitely need to make sure that nothing's going to affect you here, since it wasn't your fault, and he's sort of boned no matter what...so yeah. Take care of yourself first - it's probably time to tell Mr Insurance
