misticloud who, in a rather indirect fashion, inspired this one-shot. When I say “indirect”, I mean that I’d finished reading the latest chapter (Over and Done With) and was listening to Nickelback’s Far Away when the idea for this story struck me. Set in the time frame of the current chapter of The Love That Chases, Over and Done With - you can guess whereabouts in the story it can go.
Ryo turned his head, catching the familiar tune on the radio, and yelled at Subaru to turn the volume up.
This time, this place, misused, mistakes

He wanted to laugh - Shige had played this song on SHIGET TOGETHER once when it was still on its run during NEWS’ hiatus, and then once again in the dressing room before a Never Ending Wonderful Story concert when he was by himself, getting ready. He remembered accidentally overhearing the younger man say to his best friend that he liked that song very much when they were on the coach travelling from the concert hall to the hotel.

His English wasn’t great (he had to ask, sometimes force, Shige into translating those English fan-letters he received) but he could understand the main gist of the song - and right now, he wanted to do nothing but laugh at the irony of its message.

Suddenly, the Yellow Ranger had the sudden urge to pull out his phone and dial Shige’s number - but he stopped himself before he had even opened his contact list. Shige wouldn’t be happy, he reprimanded himself. I’ve already called him today - he’s probably studying for an exam. Unconsciously, the edge of his lips tugged upwards into a small, thoughtful smile as his thoughts strayed to his hard-working bookworm of a crush.
