Leaving, on a jet plane

Just finished booking flights & car for the memorial service for my grandmother; it's going to be in a couple of weeks, on the 14th of November, therefore do-able for both me and SO. How far do you have to travel?

It's tough to go through a lifetime of stuff, and to realize you'll never be in the house again. I still miss my grandparents' home - and I wasn't even there that often! (The one I spent the most time in was the one they moved out of when I was 15.)

It's about 1500 miles/3 days (if driving). So not feasible to do anything other than fly.

We'll also have to put Juno in a kennel for the duration. :-( If it were just one night, we could probably get a neighbor to come feed her, but two nights away, probably not. In fact I think it'll end up being three since I don't think we'll be home early enough to pick her up Sunday.

Thanks, honey. Relatively peacefully - she'd broken her hip and was in the hospital, and never woke up from the surgery. Which was basically what she'd told my aunt she hoped would happen, so, yeah. And she was 93, so it was only to be expected.
