Busy busy - am reading about copyright for a paper. Did yard work with my mom earlier today, then we went to see Changeling which I enjoyed a lot.
Hope
you all are doing well - not going to have much time online to read the flist this week, although I will when I can. But I will be posting the BTI chapter tomorrow of course!

What did you like about Changeling? I'm so out of it in regards to current stuff, but I was reading an article in the NYT (my landlord gets the Sunday NYT) and saw an ad for it, and they all highlighted Ms. Jolie, not a word about Mr. Malkovich, in whom I'd be more interested...

Jolie was very good, so I can understand why she's getting the attention, and also the character Malkovich plays (Rev. Gustav Briegleb) although important plot-wise is less central to what happens.
One of the things I liked about the film was that it weaves together several different themes and plot strands. There's the missing son, the police corruption, the problems with psychiatric treatment of the time, and another plot line that I don't think was in the previews so I won't specify. The acting was nearly all excellent; the actor who played Gordon Northcott (in that unspecified plotline) especially so. And the cinematography really worked well, with nothing fancy and self-conscious but very effective. Last but not least, there's no artificially happy ending. I'd say it's well worth seeing.
