Once again I am very late with last week's CSA: arugula, kale, savoy cabbage (I think), a bunch of radishes, 10 squash blossoms, 7 small onions, and about 2.5 lb. of peaches.
A bunch of kids' books, including most of the Oz books, some LM Montgomery, the first couple of Dr. Dolittles, plus a few random things. Several antique cookbooks. Four by Charlotte Bronte, a few US classics I keep meaning to read like The Jungle, Agatha Christie's first two mysteries... I don't remember what all else. Like 50 books altogether, most of them freebie classics. The two I actually bought were the Hunger Games trilogy, and the Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide (5 books in one). I will have LOTS to choose from!
If you like LM Montgomery, try "Girl of the Limberlost" which is like Anne of Green Gables + taxidermy + romantic lessons from someone with borderline personality disorder. Also, I enjoy some of Frances Hodgson Burnett's crackier old books - The Shuttle and Making of a Marchioness.
Ooh, I've only ever read the three big ones by Burnett (Fauntleroy, Secret Garden, Little Princess). I'll check for e-versions. I've seen Girl of the Limberlost here and there over the years but never read that one either - thanks!
Off to Idaho - where my dad's family is from. SO and I were married there, too. *g* Too bad he couldn't go this time, although it's still just over a week till our anniversary (at which time he will be in the UK, the lucky dog).
