Miscellany

Map gacked from ravenna_c_tan. This is accurate to the limits of my memory; between various family and other trips and job interviews and whatnot, I've really been all over. And frankly I have no desire to go to Alaska or Hawaii, so... yeah. Three to go.

That's an impressive tour of the US!! Just curious - why don't you ever want to go to HI?

I figure if you drive through it, or step on it even in e.g. an airport, you've been there.

No interest in Hawaii because I burn in about 30 seconds in the sun. Tropical islands of any sort have never been places I want to go.

*whispers* There's not much to see in Delaware. :-P

But maybe I am too harsh after doing nothing there but sitting in traffic jams on I-95.

Heh, well, there isn't much to see in quite a few states, depending on what one considers interesting!

I've been to all 50. You've got 3 of my top 5 favorite states left on your list.

Vermont is glorious, especially if you go either in the spring, the summer or the first week in October. Don't miss the rural part of the state north of Burlington, especially be sure to take a long drive along the shore of Lake Champlain and through the islands.

Alaska is absolutely beautiful and spectacular. Don't miss the Kenai Peninsula and some kind of boat trip to the inland passage and Glacier Bay or College Fjord.

I also avoid the sun and never sun on the beach but Hawaii, especially Kauai, is fabulous to escape the dead of midwest winters. I like it in February or March when a break from Nebraska winter is well worth the dollars. The temperatures stay in the high seventies or low eighties and the flowers and foliage and the mountains and waterfalls will soothe your winter jangled soul.

For that matter, the Delaware shore and the coast of Rhode Island are well worth the visit too.

Have fun making it through all 50 states!

At the moment I have no immediate plans to get to any of those five, but I have quite a few years left to manage, so I imagine there's a good chance at the remaining three in the lower 48, at least...

Holy smokes! You've just been everywhere.

Do touchdowns count? Even if one doesn't get off the plane?
