My freezer has quite a lot in it right now, although a fair bit is just, like, chicken breasts, which need work. This week is so busy I'm happy there were a couple of mostly-finished things in there!
Not a Merlin fandom person, but I'll take a look later... *g*
Another thought about the cufflinks; depending on what they look like, you might be able to have them converted into earrings or other jewelry. My mother did that for a pair of my grandpa's cufflinks, and gave them to me.
You haven't really missed anything that thrilling in my life, but I did rec a Holmes/Watson fic that I thought was fantastic, so if you feel like checking it out, you can find it here.
Welcome back! Glad your trip went smoothly enough.
Brief sum-up of the salient points: After awhile, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle got tired of writing Holmes and killed him off ("The Final Problem"). However, after much public outcry, he eventually resurrected him again ("The Empty House"), which is set 3 years after Holmes' "death". "The Empty House" also mentions that Watson had lost his wife in the interval, although there's no mention of how or why. penguin474's fic covers Watson's double loss, and what happens (keeping very close to Empty House canon) when he discovers Holmes is alive again.

Your freezer surprise sounds better than my freezer surprise. I'm making a grocery list for Thursday, which is payday. *sighs*
I can't remember if you read in the Merlin fandom but I went and had some fun with the Bayeux Tapestry Generator last night. :-D
