I went to PAX East this weekend and saw Oxventure in person which was a lot of fun and overwhelming. PAX is a gigantic con, where I found some cool things, met neat people and tried not to get run over by multiple people. I haven't updated in a bit since life has been busy but good. Valentine's week, my parents came to visit and we had a wonderful time including going to an auto museum in Brookline in this castlelike carriage house. My New Year's has been quiet, I successfully made challah bread with a fig filling that was used in French bread this morning and was delicious. This past year has been full of so much good and bad that I'm ready for a new one especially where I can get more settled ( Read more... )

This has been an odd but nice holiday season so far. My parents and their friend group has become the health care coordinating team for another couple; the wife had a major stroke the week before Christmas and her husband is dealing with the onset of dementia. First snow of the season and I spun out on my way home, hitting a curb and doing something to my steering. I was able to drive a bit more than pulled over. After a while on hold, got to AAA, who sent a tow, dropped by car off and got a Lyft home ( Read more... )

I'm feeling accomplished and a little tired but in a good way tonight. Yesterday I was able to get my flu and booster jabs, so far my arm's a little sore and I'm kind of achey. No mouse was seen yesterday or last night. I think it must have somehow got into my apartment and then got back out. I had a nice talk with the exterminators this morning, they can't come unless my landlady gives says so and she won't but I think it was a weird fluke. So last night, kind of early around 10:30, I saw a mouse in my apartment just one and so ended up not really being in my apartment. I spent most of today out to get traps and had the worst email exchange with my landlady. She claimed that the exterminators came twice and found nothing, which isn’t true.
