Just came across this via NCIS Fic Finders (comment in a comment!) and I love it. I especially loved Gibbs' comment about campfires, Jimmy and the maps, the two kids fighting in the back seat of the car (and Gibbs' own version of "do I have to come back there!"), and the medicinal bourbon. I loved it all. Thanks!
