I can't sleep, I'm too emotional and I'm resisting the temptation to read the remaining 5 mini-cakes in the box next to my bed. I need a distraction and The Hollywood Reporter gave me one (no, I'm not in this one.) The serious lack of women in directorial positions in film is of no big surprise to me or anyone else. I'm so damned tired tonight that I totally read that as "female dictators."

Oddly, I wasn't surprised that you'd be celebrating them. Not sure if that says more about you or me. LOL

I'll take that as a compliment! XD

It was that Hollywood Reporter interview with Jolie & Yuh Nelson that inspired the post. Not only does it suck that there are so few women directors working, but they've also got to put up with question after question about being women directors.

Thank you for this extremely enlightening post. It is indeed sad we have such few women as directors. I don't have much idea about gender and the film industry, though I suspect they must have many stereotypes, such as chick flicks being directed mainly by women?
Anyway, I have added you as a friend; its so rare to come across a fello LJ blogger!
