[Knitting] I've lost perspective

I bought this beautiful multi-colored yarn to use for a baby blanket for my sister. Unfortunately, I think the pattern I chose, instead of showcasing the yarn, turns the blanket into a cheesy 70's afghan. But I've been staring at the thing for so long I've lost all perspective.

thanks! Although, I think I'm leaning towards to cheesy 70's. I think I'm going to try & find another pattern & start that & see if I like it better. (but I won't rip out this version just yet).

I think it is really pretty. It makes me think of a stone dropped in a lake and the ripples that spread out. Really neat!

I still sleep under one or another of the three afghans my great-grandmother knitted for me in the 70's. (Note, these are not 'security' blankets. I just like 'em.) So...I see nothing wrong with it.

Cute!

And just to second the above sentiment... I still use a big ol' acrylic afghan my grandma crocheted for me. Even though it's psychadelic rainbow swirls, I love it anyway!
