Travel plans

So plans for Australia are coming along. Steve is still unemployed but he has three four fish on the hook right now so hopefully he can reel one of the interviews into a job before we leave. We decided job or no job, the plane tickets were paid for so we really had no choice but to go. We have made a few concessions such as staying in hostels

Heya, good to hear from you -- you haven't written in a few months! Exciting that your trip is soon! I just booked myself to go back to New Zealand for three months, starting on Nov. 16. :D

I wish I had got to do the Great Ocean Road when I was in Oz... please take pics! What a great idea to do it on the bikes. :)

Port Douglas is much more quaint than Cairns... Cairns is kind of a party town but also still nice. VERY touristy though... if you go downtown, it's just filled with shops trying to sell dive trips, etc. There will be a MILLION options for the Great Barrier Reef trips... leaving from Port Douglas is a bit more expensive, but will be less crowded. I wouldn't recommend going on the big boats (unless you get really seasick, because they will be more stable than the smaller ones, lol!), as you'll see more legs, snorkels, and flippers than fish. :p

Sounds like a helluva trip, i'm jealous!
