1. Christopher Paolini, regarding your review of HBP in Entertainment Weekly, I think the only time I have ever been less impressed with your writing was when I read Eragon. Which is too bad, because you are a very sweet, kind person ( Read more... )

Great. Now you've got me wondering if Snape has an eye tattooed on his ankle. Could make for an interesting fic.

Ahh, Luna and Slughorn...I love them both so. Wish we'd had more Neville, though. So many fantastic secondary characters!

The Luna-Neville juxtaposition to Ron-Hermione was just missing in this book and that made me sad. The Half-Blood Prince revelation would have been more interesting if you couldn't figure it out because the script is the same as Snape's. Of course, I hated the Lemony Snicket novels (all two I made it through before going "EUCH, WHY AM I WASTING MY TIME?"), so.

Also, you actually made it through Eragon? I think I made it about fifty pages.

No, I only made it to page 25 of Eragon. You're a better woman than I.

You're both better than I am. I read the first couple of pages, skimmed the glossary, thought, "Hm. Obvious Tolkien/McCaffrey rip-off," and put the book down. It's all been done before, and better, by authors who aren't arrogant teeangers.

And as for arrogance...I read an interview where the esteemed Master Paolini stated that Eragon would kick Harry Potter's quidditch-toned behind "because he has a dragon." Um, right. Yeah. *snerk*

This bothered me too. It was as if Harry's announcement at the beginning that Sirius wouldn't have wanted him to crack up or shut himself away was a curt dismissal of any grief or commentary on the impact Sirius's loss would truly have had on Harry.
