My body clock went off at 4:30 actually even without meaning to, saw the first 15 minutes and honestly did think that it was over for us. 2-1 against Serbia? That's so good! But argh. Not enough... annoying..
Re: politics.. I'm ashamed to say (and I know my Dad would be too) but I don't know enough about why KRudd was SO bad, and why Gillard is going to be amazing. Just because she's a woman? Is that it? I'm skeptical.. everyone's a politician right, everyone makes promises and breaks them. But that's my very uneducated thoughts on that!
And um.. if you're in Melbourne, perhaps we can meet up? Coffee? Giggles? But maybe you're totally busy and can't fit it in, but do let me know :)
Very annoying! At least we went out on a high, though.
I'm not a politics freak by any means, but for me the reason why KRudd failed was because he didn't deliver... well, much at all. Education, nope. Broadband, nope. Emissions scheme, nope. Childcares, nope. Then put in the mining tax, screwed up the insulation scheme... and basically that puts a big red cross in my book! :P As far as Julia goes, I think people will like that she's more of a straight talker; Rudd used too many long words and acronyms and became condescending. Plus, she's a woman. But I ain't buying it until I see results!
Oh, you're very sweet, but I'm afraid my Melbourne trip is pretty booked out! 'Cause we're only back for a short period of time each visit, we have to start planning who we need to see, what we need to do, etc. And this trip is actually more for business than anything (although I didn't mention that in the post). But thank you for the thought! :)
lol Miss Magpie *giggles* I always think that she looks so well put together (albeit like Tilda Swinton's evil twin)... and then she opens her mouth mand starts talking.
In all seriousness though. I am so anti Gillard and anti Rudd. As Bernard Black would say, its an impossible decision. I'll just have to hope that when I flip the coin it somehow explodes and kills me. That may or may not have been my facebook status last night
and then she opens her mouth and starts talking. OMG, YES. I don't understand how someone with Welsh parents can grow up to have such a broad accent. I know she's from the 'working class' but honestly!
LOL. Then pass the exploding coin to me! The sooner people realise Gillard is just another Rudd, albeit a more straight-talking one, the better. I honestly can't think of one thing the Rudd government did except for saying sorry. He says he saved the economy from recession, but the truth is, the budget was in such surplus all he had to do was spend it, and then take the credit. Gragh.
I'll be seeing Rock the Ballet when it comes to Perth! Can't wait, especially after hearing what you said!
Politically I am rather pleased, but on the other hand I have slight levels of disappointment that the first female PM was kind of just put there instead of being chosen by the public. But, you know, it is what it is and it is very exciting!
