To the carer who assaulted my brother,

I’m still trying to imagine what kind of a disturbed person assaults a learning disabled man, let alone my brother - generally the most chilled-out, happy, friendly guy I ever met. Yeh, he can be a stubborn fucker, as can most 20 year old guys in that first flush of freedom after moving out of their mum’s house

God that's horrible. I'm really sorry that your brother was put in that position. Care staff should be just that - staff. That means they do as you direct them, not the other way around.

May I suggest, if your brother is unsure about pressing charges, that he gets put in touch with the Disabled Action Network: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=5192342478

They may be able to give him some advice about what he can do about this that may be a bit easier to handle (meaning he might feel a bit less pressure as it would be coming from an uninvolved party who he doesn't have a relationship with). Or they could help him take action in a way which doesn't involve the police, if he wants to persue that kind of action.

Whatever he chooses, I wish him the best of luck and I hope he doesn't come into contact with anymore scumfuck "carers" in his future.

Bloody hell. I totally misheard this yesterday in the hubbub of Cafe Rouge - I thought what I heard was that one of his peers had done it. That it was one of the care staff is just horrific. So firstly sorry if I seemed insensitive - and secondly, a whole ton of love to you and to Dan and to your ma. I hope the other staff are giving Dan enough support and care and not sticking up for this wanker in any shape or form. x
