ON FAMILY - Family is supposed to be a supportive ground for your maturity. Unfortunately, your experiences with family are not the best. And for that, I'm truly sorry. Family is supposed to be a rock on which you lean on when you stumble through life's rocky and tiresome path. You have had to pick yourself up from the many tragic stumbles that life has thrown your way. And because of that, you have become one of the most independant, self-motivated, and captivating people I have ever met. ...but maybe you're right ... maybe we just get stuck with 'em. -shrugs-
... Damn, I'm retarded ...el_hoJune 17 2007, 07:26:00 UTC
That ^^ ... was me, by the way. And I have an addendum to this ...
ON FRIENDS - Thanks, Jocecilo. You have always been such an understanding individual. I truly appreciate our friendship. You never cease to amaze and perplex me.
And remember the assignment? (Oh, yeah, I've been working...) 1. Actually doing one of the things I say: auditioning for "Bye, Bye, Birdie!"
Unexpected coming from The Hopeless Romantic, I'm sure.littleduvallJune 20 2007, 15:22:58 UTC
Family- It is a very simple concept, really. In its rawest form, it is merely the craving to get/make sure our genes are carried into the next generation. Basically that is it, evolution. It has been ingrained in us from the beginning. I think we may have added the unconditional love of a family bond part just to make us feel better about being ultimately selfish bastards. I mean, we consistently put more devotion into a life-force (even if the efforts are primarily not reciprocated) on the hope that they will produce more of our 'own kind' or just as instinctively help those we produce, if solely for their own selfish reasons. We do that as opposed to putting more energy into those people in whom we know we can trust and count on to be there for us just as we've been there for them, and for pure reasons at that. I mean, that's love. Therefore, in conclusion, the idea of "Family" is just a facade.
PS. You should take a highly evolutionary based Human Sexuality course. Amazing.
