So, when I was feeling overwhelmed tonight and like I just have to get away from it all… I realized I had more money in my Paypal account than I expected. So I went ahead and registered for AETERNITAS.

I didn't know about that con! I attended the HP con in Salem, but haven't gone to one since.

The con registration is higher than I'm used to (but less than worldcon and world fantasy). But it's rather draconian of them to force all attendees to stay in the con hotel. I can understand why it's better for them and the hotel if we _do_, but I've never run across a con where it was a requirement.

I've seen it often in writers conferences and academic conferences where the entire site is given over to the conference activities, not to mention swingers and BDSM conventions. Not so much at general science fiction conventions where they don't have to promise to take the entire property, but that is a very different experience than this one.

My S.O. always has MIT alum stuff to do that weekend (Steer Roast) so I may as well out-geek him in the only way I can.
