Only way you can tell it's not Canada is because in Canada they would carry on with life as normal. ;) Lots of my friends who are teachers have had their kids sent home and days off - I wish we could just send the patients home when it snows and have a snow day!!
1984 is brilliant, I read it last year and it massively exceeded my expectations (and I was expecting to like it!). It's a wonderful piece of literature, I hope you enjoy it!
